Home Inspections in
Gaithersburg, MD
Kentlands and Lakelands, Montgomery Village townhouses, Olde Towne homes and newer Crown construction. Gaithersburg runs from the 1900s to brand-new, and we inspect each era differently.
Gaithersburg is where we inspect more homes than anywhere else in Montgomery County. The City of Gaithersburg is incorporated, with its own planning and permit offices, but the Gaithersburg mailing address reaches well beyond it — into Montgomery Village, North Potomac and Darnestown, and out toward Laytonsville. Within that area you’ll find a railroad-era town center, a 1960s planned community, one of the country’s best-known neo-traditional neighborhoods and new construction, all within a few miles.
Homes in Gaithersburg
Olde Towne Gaithersburg grew up around the B&O railroad station and has early-1900s frame houses. Montgomery Village, begun as a planned community in the 1960s, is mostly townhouses, garden condos and detached homes from the 1960s through the 1980s. Kentlands, started in the late 1980s, and neighboring Lakelands are neo-traditional neighborhoods of rowhouses, townhouses and single-family homes set close to the street, with alley garages. Crown has added townhouses and condos since the 2010s, and the Quince Orchard area is mostly 1970s–1990s colonials and split-levels.

Gaithersburg home inspection FAQ
Is the house in the City of Gaithersburg?
Maybe not. Montgomery Village, North Potomac and Darnestown use Gaithersburg addresses but aren’t part of the city. It matters for permits and records — the city keeps its own — so check the tax record for the property.
Is a radon test required for a Gaithersburg home?
For most detached homes and townhouses, yes. Montgomery County requires a radon test before settlement, with results shared with buyer and seller; condos and co-ops are not covered. Our 48-hour test can run during your inspection.
What should I check in a Montgomery Village townhouse?
Mostly age: the heat pump, water heater, roof, windows and siding are often original or on their second round. We tell you which items are due soon, and check how your unit’s roof and drainage tie into the neighbors’.
Do Kentlands and Lakelands homes need anything special?
Their designs have lots of dormers, porches and roof-to-wall joints, so we look closely at flashing and trim. Rear garages and alleys add another drainage path to check.
